Handshake and Job Search Strategies

Thursday, February 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Virtual)

Do you want to connect with employers, research job and internship opportunities, and even chat with other students who have already had your dream job or internship? Every Ohio State student can explore job and internship opportunities through Handshake. You will learn how to make the most out of Handshake to find a part time job, internship, or full-time job. This workshop will empower you to research potential employers, and to use Handshake to contact them. You will also learn how to use Handshake for career exploration and to find out what other students with similar majors and interests have done.


Building Community on Campus Workshop

Learn how to prioritize what tasks are most important in your day-to-day life and how to delegate in order to accomplish those tasks.


Resume Writing Workshop

Tuesday, February 10 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (In-Person at Buckeye Commons)

Your resume is often your first chance to make a positive impression on a prospective employer. Whether this is your first time writing a resume, or you are looking for tips to update and tailor your resume for a new opportunity, this workshop will provide you with relevant and practical information. We will also lay the foundation of resume-making by first discussing how to mindful of your career vision. Join us to learn more about what to include on your resume, how to format it and how to make it stand out.


Introduction to Personal Finance

Tuesday February 10th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (In-Person in the RPAC Jonathan Larrimer Room)

This student-led workshop offered by Scarlet and Gray Financial will introduce you to the foundational topics of personal finance. Whether you are looking to establish a budget, save more and spend less, build credit, explore investing, or save for retirement, you will find something to take away from this workshop. Registration is limited, but more offerings will be available.

Note: Not available to STEP students looking to fulfil financial wellness requirements.

This workshop gives students a practical, career‑focused introduction to using AI as a supportive tool in their daily lives - from managing tasks in their campus job to preparing for internships, interviews, and future roles.


Understanding Connection: A Love Languages Workshop

Foundations of Effective Goal Setting Workshop

Monday, February 16 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. (In-Person in the Alonso Family Room (Suite 1000) at Buckeye Commons)

Join us for a hands-on goal-setting workshop designed to help college students clarify priorities and build a realistic plan for academic, personal, and career success. Through guided activities and a simple step-by-step framework, you’ll learn how to set meaningful goals and stay motivated throughout the semester.

You’ll leave with a personalized action plan, practical strategies for overcoming common obstacles, and the chance to connect with other students who are working toward similar ambitions. No prior planning experience needed - just bring your curiosity and a willingness to reflect.

Professional networking can be an overwhelming process, with students often struggling to determine when, where and how to begin. This interactive workshop will equip participants with practical strategies to build and maintain meaningful connections at any stage of their academic journey. The session will explore multiple types of networking including informational interviews, career fairs, volunteering, immersion experiences, professional association membership and much more. Students will leave the workshop with fresh ideas and approaches for creating a relevant network in support of their short-term career readiness and long-term professional success.


Your Future-Ready Career: Developing Competencies for the Evolving World of Work

Wednesday, April 1 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Virtual)

This workshop will highlight future-ready career competencies as essential tools for navigating the future of work - presently being shaped by rapid technological innovation, globalization, and changing workforce expectations. Participants will examine how competencies align with trends including automation and AI integration, remote and hybrid work, lifelong learning and adaptive leadership. Through interaction and reflection, participants will explore their personal leadership identity and career aspirations, along with learning practical strategies for connecting and articulating future-ready career competencies gained from academic, co-curricular, and professional experiences.

Make Your Own Sensory Kit

Tuesday, April 7 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (In-Person in the Alonso Family Room (Suite 1000) at Buckeye Commons)

Create a personalized set of tools to help you stay grounded, focused, and calm throughout the day. This hands-on workshop guides students through building their own sensory kit using a variety of textures, fidgets, scents, and calming items. Learn how sensory tools can support stress management, emotional regulation, and everyday well-being—both in and out of the classroom.

Open to all students. Come get creative, learn about sensory wellness, and leave with a kit designed just for you.

Asynchronous Workshop: Having Hard Conversations

Navigating challenging conversations in the workplace can be difficult, even for seasoned professionals. Yet, approaching these moments with confidence and care is essential for fostering trust, accountability, and growth.

Join our SEE Graduate Assistant, Aalissia Thomas, in a two-part recorded workshop series that explores practical strategies for addressing sensitive topics with employers, colleagues, and supervisors. Each session stands on its own - you can watch either part in any order, or both for a fuller perspective.

No registration required - watch at your own pace, whenever it works best for you.
